Workshop.London. April 11 to 15. 2011

“All That Is Solid Melts Into Air: the monuments and ruins of Big Society London.”

The workshop will explore the ongoing dismantling of London’s education and cultural sectors. Through a series of discussions, talks and drifts we will investigate together how neoliberalism dissolves existing public sector provision and liberal institutions – creating “business friendly climates” and “opportunities for growth” through the strategic undoing of finances, geographies and communities. Using a variety of alternative group teaching methods we will also explore what alternatives might be possible and what role if any does the artist have within this process. With an eye towards the alt-education workshop and Summer School in July.

Day 1. Monday April 11.

Nils will wait downstairs at the front door of 91-92 Dean Street at 10.45 to let people in, so please be in time. There are no coffee or tea possibilities in the studio so please BYOCTW (Bring your own coffee/tea/Water).
